Really, no major problems with this vehicle in the 18 months I have been driving it. The front end is loose and rattles, but I expect that with 221,000+ miles. Water pump went out after I rear ended a Jeep and ruptured my radiator. It was undoubtedly the most reliable vehicle I have owned.Top end ticking, but research on the internet indicates that, while annoying, it won't cause harm to the motor (anytime soon). and went through a lot of tires, oil changes, batteries and brakes. In all those miles, I replaced the starter, aircon compressor, throwout bearing in the five speed standard transmisson, fixed exhaust manifold leaks three times. The tensioner on your sunvisors will weaken and they will permanently droop. The cup holder inside the center console is useless. I would still be driving it but for the fuel injectors started to fail and the repair cost was more than its value. When you replace them, use the stronger bolts from a later year turbo 3.5 engine so you dont have to redo them a second time. This will be a maintenance item about once every year.Īt some point the exhaust manifolds will start to leak. The yellow is the color of the plastic showing, just get some silver rattlecan spraypaint. The center caps on the wheels are plastic. I drove a 1995 SE from the dealer lot to 380k miles. ![]() Even though I did my best to ensure it was right, there is always that pucker factor when you go to start the first few times. I think the most fiddly thing was setting the timing belt and then the tension. Over all, while not what I think of as an "easy" project, it wasn't all that difficult either. And wouldn't you know it? The bearing that was going out wasn't in the water pump - it was in the tensioner. I did it in stages, a day or so for the tear down - nice, slow and gentle because these things are getting older and pieces tend to be fragile - and another day or so to get it all back together.Īlong with a new water pump, I bought one of those timing belt sets from RockAuto that came with a new tensioner and all the gaskets and that was totally the way to go. I found a couple of really good YouTube videos that walked me through the replacement process and went after it. This last spring, I noticed a growling noise up front and figured the water pump bearing was going out. You're not kidding about the water pump and the timing belt being difficult to get at. But that size will be slightly taller and wider.Īnyways, good luck, and have fun with it. But I'm also seeing 31x10.5R15 as an option. Seems like the stock size for that specific truck is 235/75R15. It's important that all 4 tires are the same size, and it's also better if all 4 are matching.as opposed to 3 different tires from 3 different brands. Thus the 3 different brands.Īnyways, if I were you, I'd take a look at how much tread is on all 4 tires, and also make sure they're all the same size. Usually people who don't have enough money to change all 4 tires at the same time throw on 1 or 2 tires at a time. So you have 3 different tires on your truck. But what was more concerning to me was that on the back left, you have a BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tire, and on the back right you have a completely different tire. The front tires is where I noticed very little clearance against the fender. ![]() They are halfway between a mud terrain and all terrain tire. After doing a quick research on these, they seem to have pretty favorable reviews. The 2 tires up front are both Dick Cepek Trail Country EXP. I took another look at your pictures, and saw something that I didn't see before.
